Resource Cost Integration

CloudYali connects billing data with inventory data so you can see exactly how much each individual resource costs — directly from the inventory view. No need to switch between cost dashboards and resource inventories; the cost context is right where you need it.

Viewing Resource Costs

  1. Navigate to Asset Inventory and click on any resource
  2. In the Resource Detail Dialog, select the Cost tab
  3. View the daily cost trend chart and cost breakdown table

Cost Summary Badge

When cost data is available, a cost badge appears in the resource detail header showing the total cost for the selected time period (e.g., $142.50 (Jan 8 - Feb 7)). This gives you an immediate sense of the resource's cost impact.

Daily Cost Trend Chart

The bar chart visualizes daily costs over the selected time period. Hover over any bar to see the exact dollar amount for that day. This makes it easy to spot cost spikes, gradual increases, or periods of inactivity.

Daily Cost Breakdown Table

Below the chart, a sortable table provides the raw data:

ColumnDescription
DateEach day in the selected period (sortable ascending/descending)
CostThe dollar amount for that day (sortable, with color gradient)

The table uses a color gradient where lower costs appear greener and higher costs appear redder, making it visually easy to identify the most expensive days.

How Cost Matching Works

CloudYali matches billing data to inventory resources using provider-specific resource identifiers from each cloud's billing system:

ProviderMatching Method
AWSResource ARN or resource name from AWS Cost and Usage Reports
GCPBilling resource ID matched against GCP Cloud Billing exports
AzureResource ID from Azure Cost Management exports
FastlyService ID from Fastly billing data
AnthropicOrganization and workspace from Anthropic cost data

Time Period Control

Cost data follows the Period selector in the main inventory toolbar. Changing the time period updates the cost data for all resources you view during that session.

The default period is the last 30 days, but you can adjust it using the preset options or custom date range.

Cost Data Availability
  • Cost data depends on billing data being synced from your cloud provider. There may be a 24-48 hour delay for the most recent day's data.
  • Some resource types may not have directly attributable costs (e.g., IAM roles, security groups, network interfaces). These resources will show a message indicating no cost data is available.
  • Deleted resources retain their historical cost data for the retention period — you can still see what a deleted resource cost before it was removed.

Connecting to Other Cost Features

The per-resource cost view in Asset Inventory is one piece of CloudYali's cost management capabilities. For broader cost analysis:

  • Cost Reports — Aggregate cost analysis by service, account, tags, and providers. Daily and monthly reports delivered to your inbox.
  • Budgets and Cost Alerts — Set spending thresholds and receive alerts when costs exceed your limits.
  • Cost Optimization — Actionable recommendations for reducing cloud spend, including unused resources and rightsizing opportunities.
  • Cloud Tag Governance — Improve cost attribution by enforcing tagging standards. Better tags in your inventory mean more accurate cost allocation in reports.
